draining coolant ??

I turned the petcock drain valve counterclockwise but nothing happened. Does it also pull out after turning?? I drained the coolant this way last year but forgot how the valve worked. Suggestions? Thanks!

did it turn freely sometimes u need a pair of pliers it must rotate a few times

My petcock is covered up by theoverflow tankso it's easier just to pull the lower hose... I guess you have the 4.7?
