Default check engine

Hi all. New guy to the forum here! Had this problem for a while................Check Engine comes on for a couple days goes off for a week etc... Pulled a code indicating "evaporator purge circuit malfunction" . Seems to come and go like the weather! Could sure use some direction. 99 Durango 5.9 75k runs like an champ. Thanks in advance.

Hey Big Paul, it is a great possibility that you may have a loose sensor because the timing of when your check engine light comes on is invariable. If you haven't noticed anything wrong with it (i.e. sights/sounds) it probably is just a loose sensor. Check them all out and see. If you can't find it and it still bothers you, have a dodge garage hook it up to their computer, they'll find it if you can't. Good Luck

moisture gets in evap purge system you will hear a (ticking sound coming from it ) louder on the days your CE lamp is on, it's a 30.00 part from mopar .. could also be a Gas cap (check for rusty vent on cap) also never run your truck with the gas cap off it will trip the light esp when below a half tank (senses a "leak" in LDP ) ~!

Thanks guys.......of course the lights off again! Looking at the shop manual there's not a sensor involved. I suspect the $30 part your refering to is the solenoid-correct? Does anyone know how to utilize the test port? There are no hints in the manual. Thanks again.
