Default oxygen sensor

my check engine light came on yesterday i went to auto zone they scanned it and said it was bank 1 oxygen sensor. can i keep driving it until i replace it i don't have the spare $78 right now but i don't want to damage my motor if it over fuels or any thing like that.also how hard are those to replace on the d. my d has 140,000 on it so it most likely is in there pretty good

You can keep driving, you will just get poor gas milage. It is an easy fix. Once you are ready to switch them out, heavily (andI mean heavily) coat the old one with WD40 or Liquid Wrench the night before. Let it sit all night and apply some more the next morning. This will hopefully penetrate the threads enough to help loosen the old O2 sensor for removal.

If you run your motor for too long with a bad O2 sensor, you have a high chance of clogging your Catalytic Converter. Http://www.sparkplugs.com (a forum sponsor) has good prices for O2 Sensors.

yank it out and clean it with CRC electronic components cleaner. if it's clogged, a cleaning will help it out alot. if it's dead, your best bet is to change it ASAP.
