Default Question about Temperture???

Just want to ask just in case there is something wrong... while going down the road my car runs at about 180, 190F but when sitting in a parking lot idling it runs up about 230 is this correct or is there something wrong with the cooling system. Im just worried as to what it might do in the summer time. Any help with be much appreciated

Your fan could be bad or your system may be plugged up. Flush the system thoroughly then I would think about a new fan. The radiators in these things aren't big enough for the engine so everything else needs to be optimal...

Put in a 180 tsat as well. Definately sounds like you need to do a coolant flush though. What color is your coolant right now?

I second the flush. sounds like you have low flow. also with it being winter... do you ever hear your fan clutch engage? it may have died on you and the only way you see it now is idling...

It sounds like you may have air in your system. When the truck is cold pull the radiator cap and start it up after it begins to warm up and the t-stat opens up have someone give it some gas while you top it off. Then put the cap back on and fill your reservoir up to the proper level if it isn't.
