Can't get rid of code p0700

RE: Can't get rid of code p0700
I recently had a similar problem . I bought my D about 4 weeks ago . I performed most of the usual maintenence stuff including clean the crud off the bat terminals which according to my new service manual is a no-no. Thats when the dreaded P0700 code showed up (using the ign swtch ). I bought an OBD2 code reader ( Equus 3100c ) off ebay for about $60 . It showed 3 additional codes , also tranny related . I used the 3100 reader to erase the codes and to my amazement things are just fine . I had even scheduled a session with my local Dodge dealer to do a re-program of the TCM . Cancelled that and thus far at least , no re-occurance of any codes .
The Auto Enginuity , Auto Tap , Elm 3xx readers , etc are nice but I am not sure they are worth an extra $150 or so for what they do . If your making a lot of mods as in Bombing , they might be usefull just to verify that some performance parameters did change . But for everyday keeping up with whats going on under the hood , I wont be buying any of them until they can read my '97 2500 CTD .
