98 concorde 2nd gear (forward) ONLY!
Hey there guys!
If you solved your problem please let me know.
The other day I pulled up to a light, stopped, and when I went to drive away, the car now only has second gear.
Ive been reading other sites and the more ive read the more ive started leaning towards ELECTRICAL...
From what Im gathering is that when the car was made (mine anyways) there was a major problem, %#@* loads of cars were going into so called limp mode. There was even a story that somewhere in the U.S. the police used this model, and when they got into a high speed chase there car would catch fire. Apparently what they have done is splice the TCM, ECM, and the solinoid pack together. they littery pulled all the red wires and twisted them toghter and taped them then placing them back into a harness HUH. Now what happens is after years the splice starts to coroide and a proper conection fails... If your follow your TCM,ECM,and solinoid park throgh the harness we should find this so called splice!! ALSO, your ground strap, form your transmission NEEDS to be checked!! This too is very important... I just got back from Mister Transmission and through this at him and, I was able to get out of him it wasnt the trans. and like i said start going through the harness for the splice also the ground strap. Also check and corroision on your terminal battery ground strap and all connection that might be loose or corroided comming off you TCM,ECM, Solinoid park, ..bad battery cables etc.. the whole works!! Im told that that if your ohms are ever down just 2 ohms its enough to cause this problem. your modules being computerized these days will pick up the drop in ohms and cause this problem. DONT run out buying tcms and ecm etc before you give it a look see. On on sight i read about a simple fuse going in the E.A.T.X. and that was the only problem!!!
so anyways Im going to work on mine and ill let ya know what up!
Good luck.
p.s depeding on you car will dictate where you solenoid,TCM and ECM are located..

that's was your solution? Or some books somewhere? I don't even have a haynes or chilton.. lol how bout that! I am that confident Btw got the transmission shifting properly today, had the TCM reprogrammed for 80$ and there it goes! Turns out transmission had been replaced..(spoke with previous owner) nice internal problem eh? It wasnt "slipping". Misused word maybe?
