Default 1996 Eagle Vision

Since the Eagle Vision is the close cousin of the intrepid I thought I would try and see if I can get some help here.

Problem is that when I try to turn the ignition the car goes dead, all the power in the battery is drained. I can charge the battery back up and the interior lights will come back on but as soon as I try to turn it over it goes dead again. I am thinking there is a short with the starter. This is with the 3.5L engine. The alternator and battery are about 1 year old. Where is the starter located?

I'm thinking you have a bad battery or bad electrical connection at the battery terminals. if you had a short that killed the battery in seconds, you'd have wires burning for that much current to kill the charge.
