Default (Chicago area) *SWAP* Floor shifter/seats/etc for Column shift.

Yes, you read that right, It does say what you think it says! The only problem is you have to drive out to Chicago to get it.

I have a 96 Dodge Intrepid 3.5l that has the floor shift and the dark grey leather seats. I am looking to swap this out for the column shifter and the split bench seats.

Most people want to change TO a floor shifter, not the other way around, but I am tall and the bucket seats are not comfortable (and my knees bang the center console, etc.). I used to own an 87 Buick Century (Rust in Peace, old friend) so my *** has grown accustom to a split bench.

I was in the bone yard the other day and I had the *pleasure* of sitting in a split bench model. Man, I would have just bought all the parts then and there, but the car was t-boned and the passenger seat was all twisted. It was actually a bit eerie looking over my shoulder at that. If I don't get a response, I may still do that.

I have looked at whats involved in the swap and it seems the hardest part is actually getting all the parts together to do it.

So, what I am offering is this:
You come by here and help me put your column shift, seats, and whatever trim section the Cig. lighter/ash tray comes with
and
I'll help you put my bucket seats, and floor shift console, etc., in your car.

No money changes hands, but you get the race cockpit feeling you want and I get the legroom I want. (if you actually drive in from out of town, I can put you up for a night or two). There's a decent bone yard like 10 minutes from here, open 7 days/wk, if we need anything.

In my vehicle I have the charcoal grey trim with the leather covered shifter and charcoal grey leather electric bucket seats. The seats are a bit lighter than trim.

Also I believe this swap can be performed with some other similar era dodge models.

"The problem with bucket seats is that everyone has a different size bucket"

1993-1997 LH cars will swap fine, you need column, shift cable carpet and seat. I did it for a rural mail route carrier, took me a better part of the day. I bought a beat up parts car with bad trans off craigslist for $300. charged the customer $400 to change their car over then scrapped the car for $250. so I was a decent day of income.
