95 Intrepid AC (curiousity question)
This is just for my curiosity, since we no longer have the car. We had a 95 Intrepid, great car, but with one little issue. On long trips (at least 100 miles) the AC would make a kind of vacuum sound, then stop blowing. We could hear the fans, but nothing would come out. It would then come back intermittently, nothing specific would help resolve it. Stop for lunch or gas, it may or may not work. It may come back on when driving, it may stay off for hours. It never happened with local driving.
I'd take it into the shop, and they couldn't figure it out. Of course, they only drove it around the block a few times. I guess I should've gone for a trip in the mountains or something and then directly to the shop.
I've always been curious if this had happened with anyone else, and what you did to fix it?

My 1st gen Intrepid used to do the same thing as though it had a mind of its own. In the shop connected to computer diagnostic, and short drives showed nothing wrong. It turned out to be the transducer which I learned from another forum (Dodgeintrepid.net) and its common among 1st gen Intrepids. The "fix" is to get a new one, which is the same as the 2nd gen, but comes with instructions to wire it. Never had a problem since.
