Default Frontend Clunk

I get a clunk in my 97 Intrepid when I step on the brake. It seems worse when going down hill and especially when turning to the left. It will only do it one time until you accellerate although there doesn't seem to be any sound on accelleration. I have extensively checked over the front suspension and can't find any obvious problems. The strut links seem tight and really aren't that old, I just replaced the cradle mount bushings which were really bad and expensive but didn't help at all. It feels as if the front left wheel is moving back when it clunks. The only thing that looks amiss is the bushing where the right control arm connects to the frame. There may be a bit of movement there but the sound seems to come from the other side. It's got me puzzled, any ideas?

Have you replaced the radius arm bushings? I had the same problem on the left and when I replaced those, all was well.
