Ok, I got a friend who is gonna race a 4 door Neon at our local dirt track. 5 speed DOHC. I heard from more than one person that the 4 door Neon weighs less than the 2 door. Does that make any sense? Not to me. Can someone tell me the weight difference between the 2 and 4 door and what does each weigh?

 

2 door curb weight 2385
4 door curb weight 2416




it's only 31 pounds

 

gutted and caged, every little thing possible to lighten the car, 1900 or so with driver in it

if you leave the doors together and dont cut much of anything out of the car you can be around 2200

be sure to twist up the car befor welding the cage in
put it on a frame rack and pull the left front and right rear down then put in the cage
look at the individual tire weights on mine

 

It all depends on what accesories came with the car as well. The base 95 coupes were the lightest neons.

 

once you strip the cars and skin out the body panelsthe 4 doors are heavier, but not by very much at all
a 4 door is really hard to get in & out of when the doors are welded shut, keep that in mind.
