Hey, Were you the one from yahoo? Anyways, It really depends. What is the history on the car? Clean title? How is the body? Ask and see what work has been done on the car, headgasket, timing belt, tranny ect. If the body is in good shape, I would say go for it. If the paint is peeling or something of the sort, see if you can get them down to $500 bucks. Some pics would be nice also, das and such should be able to help you out a little more. I have a 97 with 90000 on it and the only thing I have ever done to it was a headgasket and timing belt, and a wiring harness (I am guessing harness was because I was in there bending stuff out of the way). The headjob only cost me about $150 bucks total, which I did myself. If it has been updated to a MLS headgasket (which I am sure it has been) Then you should be ok if it was put on right. Good luck!

It will last for a few years if your daughter takes care of it and keeps it well maintained. I personally think that 700 for it with that many mniles might be somewhat high. I would try getting whoever is selling it down to around the 500-600 dollar range. But like I said if she keeps it maintained and everything changed when it is supposed to be, then that thing will last pretty much for a long time.

^^^^Its not that many. My first car was a 97 Escort with 183,000 on it and when we sold it, it had over 220k on it. And it was running fine. As long as you keep it maintained and change everything when it needs to be, the car will be fine.

well the Kelley Blue Book value of a 95' with 159xxx 4dr base (I dont know what this one is, I was just sayin base for the heck of it) in fair condition is $625 so I would say egt the seller down to at least $550

this is going to sound anti-Neon, but honestly, first car for a daughter with that many miles. i would say no. i'm heard of so many Neons only making it to 180k (expecially when they were either not well maintained in its previous life or the people before abused it. so honestly, i would say 50/50 chance. if shes going to be staying with you guys and you can work on cars, then i would say go for it. otherwise, it may be a pain in the royal butt. my sister drove our red Neon with 190k on it when she was at college in NC, but it was well maintained for like 170k of its life so.
