auto differential trouble
I recently purchase a 96 neon that I was told had a bad axle which was causing some noise. It turns out the axles and cv's are fine. When I removed the inspection cover over the differential I found several teeth missing on the crown gear.......I'm not a happy camper! Can the diff be removed without removing the tranny? could I least change the crown gear from this position? It seems with the axles removed and the diff bearing caps removed if I were to jack up the trans slightly I would have room to get the diff out.
Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated.
ps. what could possibly cause broken teeth on such a strong gear? ( in an automatic trans )
thanks again, smokey

when i was 16 my stereo was stolen out of my car....the people nusted up the car a bit getting it out too...i ended up finding out where they lived so i tore the hell out of there yard with neutral drops....traded the car in about 2 weeks later with no tranny problems
Haha nice Spud I used to do neutral drops in my Probe before I had the atx swapped to a mtx and when I picked up the car from the tranny place they said that it was good I swapped because the atx was almost ocmpletely done lol
