well i had exactly the same problem about 2 years ago......i had got a job and was saving up money but didnt have something to save for.....so as it was that i have a neon and love it i figured that i would also love the srt....plus i also noticed it was fast on streetfire.....but once i started looking for one i realized that they were harder to find than i thought.......so naturally i figured that i would do a swap if i couldnt get the whole car.....well after going to the mopar nationals last year and speaking to the creator of muscle car tv.. i changed my mind again......i was going to buy old school.....for5 reasons.....one that 440 is faster than the srt.....2 it will grow in value.....3 it looks mean and sounds mean....4 its rwd......5 i can build it farther than a srt.....6 it gets more attention.......7 no one else around has one.....8 it makes me feel warm and fuzzy

youd be surprised the gas mileage you can get out of those old cars, my old pontiac was every bit of 500 HP and if i just drove it around i could do 20 MPG, then i switched it from a 4 speed to a newer 5 speed from a truck and i could get 25 highway instead of 15.

well i havent really got a chance to see the gas milage.....soon as i got it home i put it on jack stands......took it around the block a lil....but it should come down tomorrow and wont have to need anything till i do all the body wrk this winter....an the interrior....im goin crazy waiting.......but i still love the neon....

man i would keep the first gen neon if its a two door i think they look so much better and put a turbo on it and u should be able to hang with an srt4 some people cant drive so they cant beat them so if u can drive the u can beat an srt4 but its ur call and for insurance i pay 120 a month and i have a 98 chevy truck and a 97 neon and the truck is full coverage and the neon is liability and i am only 19 years old

i bought a new truck, which serves a much better purpose than a SRT4, cost probly half as much,and will tow a house down the road, full coverage is $90 a month for me. if its gonna be a srt4, swap out your 1st gen, cuz then your still paying the price of insureance for a old slow neon, and have a pretty quick car.
