Default EGR Help

Got an "EGR system failure" code and need help. As of right now I have no idea of what EGR is or what it stands for. What is it and what might be the possible problem? Any parts needed or any hard work required? I do all of my own fixes and I'm pretty syre I cando it. I've never had this code before and my car is running the same. The car sometimes dies on cold starts or ithesitates on the highway, but it has done this before it threw the code. What are the symptoms for EGR system failure?

exhaust gas recurculating valve.dodge makes an updated kit or you can try to clean it.On the drivers side rear of the head.and a tube runs to the intake just below the throttle body

Is the valve behind the head were the hose starts? Can it be removed? I'd go out and check it out right now, but I don't have the proper tools with me. I'm still confused as to how this valve that recirculates the exhaust causes my car to run like crap.

It can be blocked off, but you will get an error code 32 unless you have an aftermarket PCM.

I did get code 32. I took off the valve and cleaned it. It seems to be working fine and the code is gone. I drove it today and the car decelerates randomly. When this happens the throttle won't respond unless i press it about 1/4 of the way. If i don't the car will decelerate 'till it dies. Could this still be the EGR?

It's the electrical part of the EGR system.
