Default cant really accelerate?

i turned on my 96 neon, tried to back out of my parking space but i couldnt. eventually i did but it was really slow and jerky. then when i tried to drive it i could only go about 2 miles an hour and it drove jerky still. i could not accelerate or anything, when i tried to give it some gas it just kept going 2 mph. i have no idea what is wrong. anyone have this trouble before? i would seriously appreciate it.

sounds like a bad fuel pump. does it idle normal? get a fuel pressure tester and hook it to the fuel rail should read about 50 psi if im not mistaken.

well sometimes (often) it idles and makes a thump thump thump noise. my gauges dont work sometimes but even when some of them work my gas gauge NEVER works and hasnt for a long time so i dont know if my fuel pump is acting normal or not. i found someones post from a while ago about the gauges not working but i cant fix it... i just deal with it.

check the pressure at the rail and forget about the rest for now if your really not sure how much fuel you have inthe tank ad a few gallons not to much cause if you have to replace the fuel pump you will have to drop the tank. before you go shoping for a new fuel pump check to see if you have a plastic or a metal tank.
