First Gens look good for there age, they look ahead of the time when you look at other cars of that year and the cars now, more rounded off and modern looking... If you keep it nice and you get new headlights

 

Its due to mods not being very effective ways of making more power. I just have done some visual mods and some relatively inexpensive power mods to tide me over til I am able to throw boost at my car.

 

well then im glad i have a car that responds well to mods

 

And keep in mind all 2nd gen neons (except the SRT-4) are SOHC engines.

 

i would rather have a dohc then a sohc "magnum" any day....but thats just me
and again, perhaps the 1st gens respond better to mods do to the fact the earl years were mainly for racing, not as an econmy family car....almost like a prius, or an aveo, more for milage then racing

 

Well, the ACR was designed for racing, but the neon was built as an econobox.

 

Here is something for you though. If you are under the impression that 2nd gens are slow, you are right, because I am not going to contest that fact. Most the 1gens on this site aren't that fast either from what I've seen, except a few. Now if you are talking about the "other" site, then I would definitely agree with you 100% about 1 gens being all about going fast and 2nd gens not so much.

 

^^^ True, but stock vs stock or mod for mod, the 1st will be quicker in the 1/4 mile. Weight being the biggest issue.
