Default cam and spring question

do i HAVE to use the crane valve springs with my crane #14 cams, or can i use my stock springs???
i was told that i could use the stock springs, but i wanna make sure before i do it since i was also told that the crane springs would need to be adjusted for the right height and load and am now running out of cash for the time being due to my block problem[:@]

so anyways, if i can use the stock springs them im just gonna throw the cams in another head i have sitting around, or if i can just install the crane springs myself, then i will put them in anyways....but only if i can just simply swap them out with my stock springs

You NEED to use a better spring than the stockers for anything over the cran #10.

The reason is the stock springs just cant handle the more drastic cams. You might also need the titanium valve spring retainers. I am pretty sure on that because the spring retainers are not rated for much higher than the #12 cam.

Just my .02

Yes you need to upgrade the valve springs and retainers.

Springs don't need to be preloaded.

Crane valve springs for a DOHC are only $100 and are $140 for the SOHC from Modern Performance.

I wouldn't put the cam 14 in without upgraded retainers.
