i hate the stupid heat shield on the exhaust manifold. how in the world do u get it off? it has 2 bolts on both sides and one is under the PS res. do u have to take off the res. to get that bolt off? and if so, how do you go about taking it off?

I used tin snips to get mine off since it was rusted I just pried it open a bit after i took out the old air box i had plenty of room then i used some green handled and red handled tin snips to finish it off. green handles cut left red handles cut right yellow is for straight cuts

I took off my head with the exhaust mani still on, then the heat shield came off easy. I'm getting ready to put it back on, Should I leave it off? makes it easier to add headers later.

i have never noticed any damage to any other parts when its been removed......and you can just leave it off if you want too.....the stock manifold get hot, but not super hot....
when i put the turbo on my car i didnt have the heatshield for it.......after a while the coolant over flow tank became nice and warped.....but a turbo gets alot hotter then a stock manifold

no, it wont cause you any problems to take the manifold off with the head
