Well my friend finnally got his 2.4 in his neon, and he says its all big bad and buff, and im like Oh is that so go run it (on the local street strip). im not impressed at all.

After seeing it run and then actually racing him 4 times or so. First keep in mind mine is a SOHC AUTOMATIC.

First race I told him to take it easy getting up to 20mph cause mines an auto and its not even worth racing. He still pulled ahead for a second then mine stopped falling behind.

Second race was from a roll out of a parking lot he was ahead and i began to creep up on him, and he let off.

Third race pulled from a stop, hepulled ahead atfirst, But i started to pullup on him reaaaally quick.

Finnal run, Pulled from a roll from 15-20ish Once i hit35 my car ran like a monster,tranny shifted at 55mph, and kept on pulling. and istarted pulling aheadSuper fast.

Now does anyone see the problem here? 2.4 Stratus motor with an mtx. vs my SOHC automatic. and my auto pulled ahead.

Two options, My car is a freaking monster, or the 2.4 has some problems? But i didnt notice any missfires any sliping clutch ect ect. Anyone have any ideas?

 

wow... my guess is ur car is just a beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeast!!!!! haha no but seriously i would have to guess that his timing is off or something for an atx sohc to own him... just my $0.02

 

see thats what im figuring as well, beacause i cant even hang with some SOHC mtxs (driver dependant)

when i raced my friend's DOHC (he had tb, AEM intake, magnaflow exhaust)
and i had (same tb, DOHC muffler)

and he was about 2-3 car lenghts ahead of me

just should have gone DOHC..hahahaha

 

My car really likes my cam, UDP and the fresh clean head and TB. I sea foamed it a few times too. My carjust gets happy after 15mph =D

 

A cammed SOHC neon is NO punk, but I would still think he should get you being an MTX and all. Maybe his motor needs a good tune-up. I know a guy whose 1/4 time is "14.930 @ 92, 2.4L swapped with like 2 bolt-on's"

i've never really heard any of them for neons...

 

maybe he just doesnt know how to drive[8D]

 

 

Im not sure, but i think its a lil better than magnum, And i bought it offa the 2.4 fella for 50bux!=D
