'95 to '97 steering wheel swap.
is it possible to just swap the wheel part of the steering wheel into a '97 from a '95? aka are the center peices the exact same. i know the 95 has the Chrysler symbol on it and the 97 has the neon written on it.
my work car is a 95 and one of the 1st things i did when i got the car was put a steering wheel from my old r/t on it.....they fit fine, you just need to swap the clock spring too for your horn and stuff to work
ok sweet. on my new '97 the outer part of the wheel is like foam and i think the last owner really liked to grip the wheel as hard as they could cause in two places its worned all the way down to the metal i think.
Spud, have you ever had problems getting the wheel back on? I could never get the wheel far enough on to use the nut to tighten it back down. I always pushed the wheel back on and then just tightened the nut.
i usually set the wheel on the end of the shaft...then lightly wiggle it side to side....if it doesnt go anywhere then turn the wheel a tiny bit..(only about 1/8 inch).....then do the side to side wiggle again and usually it will slide onto the shaft all the way...then tighten the nut
