Default oil viscosity for a turbo neon? and timing as well

so im fina;lly ready top fire up a year long project on my turbo neon build. the motor is all redone with forged internals, lower compression pistons. a cam designed for turbos.port and polished heads, bigger valvesand im ready to put the fluids in it and i want to put in some mobil synthetic but i realized what is a good oil for turbod motors? i was thinking about putting in some 5w 20. is that to thin? or should i run with something thinker. suggestions greatly aprecitated thanks.

and also if i am using the stock pcm for now, should i retard the timingby like 1 tooth on the timing belt or just leave it where it should be set from the factory. just some littel things ive benn thinking about before i turn over the new motor

Conventional 5w30 should be fine for the break-in and then switch to synthetic. DO NOT break-in the motor with sythetic oil.

leave your timing belt as is.
if youtry tobreak in that motor on synthetic oil, you will have just wasted a year of time
it wont break in. use el -cheapo 5w30 or 10w30 for the first 500 miles or more, maybe even 1500 miles, then switch to mobil1 10w30, that should be fine.thats what i use in my talon.

sweet, i apreciate everyones help. i did not know you couldn't break a motor in on synthetic oil. no wonder my buddys brand new cobalt SS still burns oil lol. ill have to let everyone know how it sounds and everything when its running. itshould be pretty sweet with all the money, blood, sweat and tears i put into it. and plus i have my friend who works for corvette racing look over the whole project for me.

Synthetic oil does not let the seals sit and seal correctly.
