Default Gas mileage

For anyone interested, not sure if its just my car or what, but if your looking for improved gas mileage this is pretty much common sense but, drive 55. I've been doing this on trips to my moms house 173 miles and ive been getting 40-42 mpg with my SOHC automatic, its pretty weird. Anyone else see mileage like this with there cars? Car also has 170k on it

back when i my car was younger...aka 3k ago lol. if i was going about 70-75MPH i would get the best MPG, car is a 5-speed SOHC though with as of now 246k on her. but now she does like the slower speeds. but all my timing is set on the 70-75MPH so whenever i drive slower...i'm late lol.

When I drove 1200 mile round trip to Indy last year, I got just over 40 MPG in my 97 DOHC mtx. My usual commute is only 4 mile round trip, in the city, and I get like 22 MPG on a daily basis.

I am getting the same kind of gas mileage on my car, about 38-40. I have a new job where I need to drive 50 mile one way to work and I just put it on cruise control at 65 mph and I am suprise with the mileage I am getting from it.
