Does appear to be a r/t. I just googled a free vin decoder and it said its an r/t.

dont know where you got that vin decoder from, but the vin decodes as a sport model......
THIS IS NOT AN R/T
r/t's were NOT available in automatic
ONLYcame in blue, red, white, and black
this car does NOT have the r/t wheels (though i know they can be changed)
r/t's also came with colordesignated accent designs on the interior.....(red car, red accents...black car, red accents....blue car, blue accents.....white car, blue accents)

i agree with spud.

R/T's were never available with automatic. not to mention that the R/T's drop the 'neon' badge in the back and replace it with R/T.

i can also tell you that the difference in engine works is the PCM (lower accel, lower redline). if that is enough for you, be my guest. However, you don't get all the goodies (correct me if im wrong) like:

- macphearson and chapman struts
- close-ratio 5-speed mtx
- front and rear anti-roll bars

...so on and so forth.

all that being said though, that particular neon looks to be in good condition. i think it would be a decent basis for a project with the dohc and all. the atx might not be something you like but it's your decision. good luck finding a new neon man!

some i found on ebay that look decent:

98 R/T: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1998-...QQcmdZViewItem

Pimped out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-...QQcmdZViewItem

96 sohc: rice, built head, not iceman like he claims haha, its the 3.0 by the looks of it:

very clean 95 highline. verrry clean:

hope some of this helps you in your search. for the most part these looked alright. i'd say your best bet of these would be either the R/T or the last one (highline) that is super clean and same seller as the R/T. anyways, good luck Garrett!

Zach,
That red R/T is hot! I wish I had the cash. I'd buy it.

if an auto is what you want i know of a white one, depending on how far you are willing to travel. its in pretty good shape. the only thing is that above people are mentioning that r/t wernt auto, but this one is i dont know why.
