hey i have a general question about the neon clutch sytem. i forget how to tell the difference between modualr and non-modular but i have no idea how to install a clutch lol. i ordered a clutch and it is a one peice, flywheel and all and it bolts to the big gear that bolts to the crankshaft. i was wondering if someone could send me some photos how to install a clutch, or know of a website where i can find these pictures. it would be greatly appreciated, thanks

 

If your neon was built in the US, you have a modular clutch (all one piece).

Before you remove the old clutch, mark the clutch cover and flywheel so you can put the new on in the same relative position.
To install the clutch, mount clutch assembly on flywheel with disc centered, being careful to properly
align dowels and the alignment marks made before removal. The flywheel side of the clutch disc is
marked for proper installation. Tighten the clutch attaching bolts sufficiently to hold the disc in position. To avoid distortion of the clutch cover, bolts should be tightened a few turns at a time. Use a crisscross pattern, until all bolts are seated. Tighten bolts to 28 N·m (250 in. lbs.) following a crisscross pattern sequence. Install the tranny and there you go.

 

good idea, but not necessary
if you have the clutch off of the flywheel, then you can notice that one of the flywheel holes is an oval...the rest are circular.....then,
if you look at the rear of the clutch where the 4 holes are that mount to the flywheel, on the outter rim by one of the holes, there is an oval etched into the metal.......so,
the oval hole on the flywheel, and the hole on the clutch that have the oval etched by it match up....
sounds confusing, but if anyone needs a pic then i can take one
