Default Coolant leak

Hey everyone, here's the story.

My 98 Neon DOHC 120K miles, has been leaking coolantfor the past couple weeks. A tiny little trickle about 10 mins after I would shut it off and would leave a puddle the size of a fist. A couple days ago I was just about empty of coolant and refilled with 50/50 mix.

Tonight I took it out for about 12 miles and when I parked it alot (sizeof a plate) of coolant was leaking and I had left a smallsputters of fluid down the road, probably since I left, because I'm now almost out of coolant.

I've been reading similar posts and it seems to be the water pump or heater core. I still get heat from the vents, t-stat is new, rad cover is new, no leaks from hoses, pressure isfine. It only leaks (now) while driving and when parked (for a couple mins).

Question is, i was gonna hire a mech.(500$) todo the timing belt anyways, now i seems I have to do it tomorrow. What I'd like to know is what else should I get done in that area while that gets done anyways? Head gasket, cam seal? If it's the heater core how much more would that be with a timing belt job?

Thanks for reading this

if its leaking under the car then its probally the water pump.....while at it, it would be a good idea to have the timing belt, AND idler pulley replaced

Yeah got all that done today, and it was the water pump. Runs fine but now my battery won't recharge, looks like they unpluged my alt or something.

Default CODE P1493

Yeah, it was just about too also.

I just checked the code and it used to say;

P1492
Battery Temperature Sensor Voltage Too High
I never bothered changing, I was suppossed too last week but didin't have time to pick up the part, but after coming back from the mech. it nowsays;

P1493
Battery Temperature Sensor Voltage Too Low

Why would the code all of a sudden change from too high to too low?

Could it be that by pure luck it's toast just when the mech. did a timing belt job or am I just paranoid?

Changed it today (the plug that goes to the relay) and now everything works great.

Now under the hood everything's near perfect, all that's left is cosmetic.

Anyone selling a cd player for a 98 R/T? I have the radio/cassette combo but who have tapes anymore?
