RE: characteristics of neons
expresso's came with the SOHC as well. least 50% of the ones i've seen have had SOHC's.
In 1995 the Sport was the top of line with the most goodies and they came with SOHC's. the Sport coupes came with the DOHC. the R/T is the Road/Track model so it has all the goodies. upgraded suspension while having some comfort features. the ACR was the full blown out racer. the Highline i think in like 97 became the base model. but otherwise in '95 it was the middle model. had a good bit of comfort features as well as performance. so it was called the best blend of it all. cause the Sports were the heaviest.

i know that the early 95s are the lightest, even the four doors.
the majority of the expressos ive seen are dohc, due to the bubble hood.
and the atx neons come with the steering whell that says 'neon' while the mtx says nothing. and the 96 models came with miniature mudflaps.
haha, mudflaps on a neon. thats like a civic with a reliable engine, why?[:-]

my 97 has the Neon on the steering wheel. in 95 there was just the Chrysler emblem. on 96+ they had the Neon in place.
plus the buldged hood doesn't mean anything. some SOHC's came with the power buldge hood. what matters is the tail pipes (that is unless the people installed a new one). if it has 2 pipes then its DOHC and if it just has one then its SOHC.
oh and my '95 has mudflaps. i like them, adds to the old slow look. but it aint slow. lol

highlines came in sohc and dohc.....
sports had a bit stiffer suspension then the highline and also had some power options
r/t's came with even stiffer suspension, better struts, most came with all power options, closer geared tranny, all were dohc and had color specific accented interior
acr 2-doors were dohc and 4-doors were sohc
there is alot more, but im really only familiar with the r/t's

my passenger dash says neon in silver, and i have the mudflaps, with the original whells, and yes i looks like a slow pos, but ill race a ricer anyday and kill em. i like the non intimidation factor when i pull up and puond the gas, people turn heads. hahah. i think the later 96 and up models say dodge on the trunk not just neon.
