Default Parking Light Wire...?

Question: On a 95 Neon instrument cluster, there are a set of wires going into the cluster, which of these wires would be for the parking lights? I'm trying to splice an indiglo face gauge power inverter thingy into the parking light wire so it will come on when I switch on the parking lights.

Can anyone help?

I think what you are looking for is a yellow wire w/ a black tracer on the headlight switch.

I was about to post a rather time-consuming reply detailing the wire cluster, but I got the same answer you just gave me. It's fully dark now and I don't have a flashlight, so I'm pretty much ground.for the night (pity, I really want to see how this thing looks!). Could you direct me to the headlight switch? Am I searching within the dash? Under? Or under the hood?

Please bare with me. I'm a super-newbie at anything automotive.

Thanks for your reply.

PS: Very, very VERY sweet Neon! Looks just like mine! I'm hoping to undergo a similar project myself.

Alright, you know that **** you pull to turn on your headlights. You need to remove the skrews holding in the plastic cover under your steering wheel. This will allow you to see the inner workings of your headlight switch. You then take out the three skrews holding in the switch itself and you can now see the wires.

I just did all that this morning. Looking at the switch, I see two black wire with yellow tracers and a single yellow wire with a black tracer. Not to dispute you in anyway (this is only for clarification on my part as I'm easily confused), but in another forum someone said it is the black wire with the yellow tracer I need.

I'm making progress!!
Thanks a mil for your help!

Okay, this is me bowing down to Protivakid, seeking forgiveness. (Really, I am.)

I spliced into the wire you mentioned and grounded to the body of the car. The gauge works. I have to press the ON/OFF pad that came with it. Is that normal? Are the gauges supposed to come on with the parking lights?

You're right. I guess it's not a problem switching and on and off. I'm just spoiled by having the dash light up with the lights. Mostly, I'm more concerned about installing the gauge incorrectly. I don't want to blow the little box and end up with nothing on the dash because the gauge is pretty much permanent now. I could buy another, of course, for just the inverter, but why spend $$ on something that can be fixed.

I was just being paranoid. I usually am when it comes to anything electrical.

Thanks!!

You could get a new inverter that has a different style switch, but on the inverter that comes with most yes you still have to press the little switch. Though there are plenty of inverters out there and many that have a switch where they can be perminantly on or off and only require a power source to turn on.
