Will the neon ever be a collectible?
I have been thinking of this ever since I went to a car show on friday, you see all these old MG Midgets and Pintos and such, and it got me wondering, in 30 years with how many neons are going to the scrapper, will they ever be a car worthy of being restored or if the parts will be available, or if they will be respected like older compacts are now. What do you think?
thought about the exact same thing. i hope so. i mean even the VW Bug has been made into a classic and gets respect. which back in the day, i dont think they would of thought about it.
I voted no. This car is barely moving after a little over 10 years, and costs only $400, I can't imagine that it will be sought after in 30 years.
Most collector's cars are revolutionary or exotic... and the Neon has none of those attributes.

see, i know by like 98 over 1million Neons were made...yes short time...but the VW Bug (even though its not like a collectable collectable...they can still turn in a nice penny [compared to what the person bought it for] if their cared for.) also made over 1 million...course it took longer...
Well, even though there were so many produced, many are already going to the scrapper because they are so cheap. But what about in 30 years when all the neons are rustbuckets in junkyards?
i said no come on it's a neon it will never be a collectible....maby mine will
.we collect them...so i guess they are but in 30 years do you think they want a pos car compaired to a car that can go the speed of light
and the 'MAN' will crush all cars that is not 2037 are newer

The Neon is the iconic... um... I got nothing positive there
And don't forget the VW Bug was designed by Ferdinand Porsche, so there's a little bit of exotic-ness to it as well. Though that's not even 5% of the reason it's popular.
"It's just a Neon". That's what everyone says. I even use to say that before I got mine. It's just my Neon though. I can't see it ever being a collectible.
The SRT-4 might be a collectible (especially the SRT-4 ACR).
