I'm considering getting a header for my SOHC Neon but I'm wondering if the stock exhaust tubing and catalitic converter are suffciant enough to handle any gains the header will give or will they bottle neck instead? Are the High flow Catalitic Converters any good or are they not worth it? I know people say they get gains from adding a header on astock exhaust system but it seems like you can improve on the average 6 wheel HP.

Also which brandheaders will bolt right up to the stock location that the current manifold does?, or does it even pay to have that kind? I'm looking forPower gains I can notice without a Dyno and I'd like info from somebody who has done this sort of thing before, I know there has been a few articles on how much certain set ups give but it never garuntees what you'll get in the end on your car.Is there any noticeable powerdifference between a shorty header and full length header? I'm not going to whine about 1 or 2 HP but just helps in making my decision on weather its worth it to mod the exhaust tubing to the cat for 1 or 2 Hp more, if its more than a gain like thisI will mod the exhaust to fit the full length header.

The muffler I'm using is aCherry bomb Glass Pack, so its pretty much straight through and see throughat the end of the exhaust system.

what size is the exhaust system...and the long tube header is for dohc's well it works better on them.for sohc pacesetter is the best for gains.

 

Its the stock 2.25inch tubing.

 

upgrade your exhaustor you won't gain alot of hp you should upgrade to 2.5 just for the heck of it.you should still get the pacestter it's the best for sohc

 

no neon needs to upgrade their pipe unless you plan on putting in a big turbo....2.25 is plenty big enough

 

for you kids 2.25 is goodmine came stock with 2.50 i want to go to 3.00 but i dont want to spend the money after just getting the apexi in feb....but they say it's a turbo muffler i just hope all of this can get the exhaust gases outquick with 350hp-400hp pushing[&:]
