i prolly wont ever have 2 batterys in my trunk but
so aerorat if you got batterys in trunk then why bigger alt??
Well yeah I suppose you could just hook up batterys with positive to positive and negative to negative but all that will do make it last longer, it will not give you any more cranking amps. If you are serious about it, I would suggest getting an optima red top for the car and wire up an auxillary deep cycle marine battery in the trunk. Now, boxer, the only reason you would put a cross over in two batterys like that is to get a 24 volt system. And on the bigger alternator, that will make the battery charge faster and if you have a big system like they were talking about, you sometimes need to upgrade alternator to avoid draining your battery.

No! You do not hook them pos to neg that will make 24 volts. You hook them pos to pos and neg to neg that way it is still a 12 volt system but more amps.
Ok as for the alt. If you have a 60 amp alt and your stereo pulls 150 amps sooner or later it will drain your battery.
And learned that the hard way. I had a tricked out aerostar with 8-15"s and caught the alt on fire because i was pulling 560 amps out of a 90 amp alt
