what is cheap to you?
my car is a 98 highline Sohc 5 speed manual but not sure of the gear ratio or watever the 3.55 means

give me an offer and then ill see what the place can do for me if they will do anything

only thing im looking at is shipping this bad boy and of course removing it

i dont know if my question was answered on the other post but is there any bolts that need to be torked when i put a newone in

this is probably a distanced project becuz ive never done any work on an engine and kinda scared to try and i dont know how long it will take to get the money well ill have the money for it tomorrow but dont know if i can spend it cuz ill have a fine comeing up on the 25 of aug for hopefully just careless driveing..

The manual will give you tork specs for them bolts, but when I had the 2.0 in we had the trans in & out a few times and just tightened down just by feel and it was just fine.

trans for a DOHC is the same BUT has a 3.94 final gear, which mean you get faster acceleration VS the 3.55 gear., although a slight drop in highway mileage.
the VSS gear is on the CV axleonly on automatics. im gonna get my neon in the garage to pull the blown up motor out this weekend boxer, if you want ill look at my speedo gear deal and see what it takes to get it out of the trans, i need to take it apart anyway, so ill take some pictures for you in case you dont wanna replace the whole trans & fix yours.

But didnt we tell him that the speedo gear is on the cv joint [&:]
I am not mechanicly inclined when it comes to trans rebuild or anything like that but how can the speedo gear be on the cv joint. Is that not like the joints on the axles in which is on the out side of the tranny. Would the gear not be somewhere at the diff inside the tranny.
The speedo gear is on the top of the trans under the battery near the shift levers. It has one bolt that hold it in place and has a connector with three wires.
