hey guys my neon is making like a clunking noise when i launch in first gear, its on the passenger side, the bushings look pretty wore out but would they make this noise? I dont think the CV's would do this....would they? Im going to jack it up and check everything out.any ideas on where to start? If I launch agressively it clunks if i take off smooth its makes little or no noise. This is what im working on

start the car and open the hood......hit the gas a few good times and see how much the motor moves...and if it makes the clunking then....if not, then it probally is the cv joint

 

Brand new motor mounts less than 1000 miles ago, I so didnt wanna hear cv joint.

 

double check you motor mounts make sure none of them has came loose

WPD480 was the oregon license number--- just seeing if you saw it around..it was in alot better condition then but then the montana owners tore it to **** but ive been slowly repairing it

My neon has been clunking on takeoff for like over a year now...I should get around to fixing it...

 

I almost gave up trying to figure out what that clunk on take off and gearshifts was, I figure when it breaks I'll know exactly what is causing it...lol

I got the prothane mount in the front but the sides are a bitch to get at so i will wait for those.
