With the SRT4 engine you would be using the PCM and electrical from the SRT4 so no you wouldnt fail emissions,it would be like the car was an SRT4 from factory. The carsbody doesnt affect that....lol

Visual is not a big deal. They are looking to see if you have the proper smog devices in place. If it burns clean then it burns clean.
A visual inspection, in which all required emissions control components and systems are identified, and must appear connected and functional. An "underhood" inspection comprises the visual and functional portions of the Smog Check inspection. The visual inspection ensures that the vehicle has all of the proper equipment and that none of its parts are disconnected or modified. The visual inspection helps prevent evaporative emissions. These occur even when the vehicle is parked, and may be the result of poorly connected or improper equipment.
Just go to a place where you know and have a understanding tech not some grumpy bast. and make it a 'pass or don't pay' station. Failing that you can go to a stateoffical refereeand have them look at it. Try the pass or don't pay places first.

***When rebuilding an engine, it must be rebuilt to the original equipment specifications. However, if you do decide to change the engine, these guidelines must be observed to ensure that the vehicle will be eligible for smog certification or registration.

Remember, these are guidelines for performing engine changes -- not certification procedures. All exhaust emission controlled vehicles with engine changes must be inspected by an official referee station and must have a Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) Vehicle Identification Label affixed to the doorpost. ***

What do I need to know about engine modifications?
The following apply to any modifications or deviations from the original emission control configuration:
[ul][*]You must use Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) specification parts for use in your specific year, make, and model of vehicle; or [/ul]
[ul][*]The part must have an Executive Order (EO) number that shows it has been exempted by the California Air Resources Board for use in your specific year, make, and model of vehicle; or [/ul]
[ul][*]The equipment used must be certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) for use in your specific year, make, and model of vehicle. [/ul]

Engine Modifications
No internal or external engine modifications (cams, pistons, intakes, etc.) may be performed unless the parts are ARB-exempted or EPA-certified for use in the installed engine. Use the database on this site to search for aftermarket parts covered by ARB Executive Orders.

A Gross Polluter may only be certified at either a Test-Only Station or a Gold Shield station. Test-Only stations are prohibited by law from performing diagnosis or repairs of any kind.

Certification Standards

** the year of the car makes a diferance**

Make sure the engine and emission control configuration on exhaust - controlled vehicles are certified to the year of the vehicle or newer, and to the same or a more stringent new vehicle certification standard.

I would have thought that as long as the new engine is the same or a more stringent new vehicle certification standards it will be fine but they still may want to have a look.
