I know someone who got a macco paint job and they managed to get paint on the tires, wheel lining, and even the leather seats that were still INSIDE of the car.

So I suggest if you are going to bring it to macco have it ready for paint. Tape everything off, take off the moldings, etc.

i had a 3000gt that i got painted at maaco about 3 years ago.... turned out pretty good until a year later when it was flaking off and losing shine fast.... just not a good investment but i personally can't justify spending a ton of money on paint so im attempting the DIY method with my neon in the next few days actually id rather go fast and look alright then have a slow car with a ton of money into something that somebody could mess up with a key out of jealousy like a high end paint job.... just my $.02

true to that...
KRYLON for 99 cents??

i cant even get the generic kind for .99 its like a 1.50 but im using the Duplicolor Gunmetal Gray Touch up Paint,, Which i believe is car paint then i think im gonna get it clear coated ... but dont know if that would make it look like a good paint job and it will be cheap

I got the top half of my neon painted at Maaco. I was going with a different color and they couldn't paint the bumpers because it would peal off really quick. They took out a dent and painted the car and clear coated it for 400.00. I know its not the best paint job and there is a little bit of overspray, but for 400.00, what do you expect. It looks nice for now and it has been on there for about 6 months. Not sure how long it will last but for the price, I can live with it. Even if I have to have it painted every 2 to 3 years, at 250.00 (special winter price) its cheaper than paying a dealership a ton of money to have it painted.

If you choose to use Macco for your paint work the the best thing you can do is get the boduwork done elsewhere, strip everything you possably can from the car yourself and mask of all the little details you don't want painted.

I can tell you I have delt with them a time or two and they have done good work but it's going to depend o where you go. Find out what paint they use and exactly what process they are going to take. Don't just drop your car off then bitch about what you get afterwards. If you show some serious interest and concerned they are more likley to take a bit more care rather then put your car through the cheap b****rd treatment.

I don't know what you guys consider a show quality paint job. Are you refering to something like 5-10 grand wort of paint and body? If thats the case then very few people around can afford such a luxury.
I'll find a few pictures of a car I had painted there four years prior with no issues such as flaking paing, fading ect.

ORIGINAL: tattoojack

also they will only paint the same color as stock since they wont paint the inside of the hood, doors, trunk, etc."YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" hell for $150 i will tape off your wholecar and rattle can that bitch with flat black. thats what i do. 12 cans of 99cent krylon.
Thats not true they painted under the hood, under the trunk and the door jambs on mine. They will paint it any colour you like. I had mine paint matched from factory chips and took in a magazine to show them what it should look like.

Now I did have some issues with overspray but nothig they could have not fixed or anything I wouldn't have expected seeing as the car was nota raw shell.

You don't have to ask them if you can do the maskig it's your car! I masked off al the little things that i was concerned with inclding wireing and parts of the engine bay before I took it in. I hand not long before finisheda complete detail and painting of the entire engine , inner and outer fender/wheel wells, ran some new wireing and just finished instaling front suspension.( should have waited on that one). I removed and replaced the air cleaner with a old crusty one just in case. I left each ligt, license plates, mirrors attached with one screw so it was easy to remove once I arrived.

Remember a quality paint jod starts with the prep work.

Question can anyone give me advice on going with maaco for a paint job on my 07 charger?!?!?

I have a 07 charger flame red and I'm finally done paying my baby off, but it's scratched to ****.. and everywhere I have gone has told me, that There just wouldn't be no point in painting over different panels. Ive been told the smarter thing would be to just paint over the whole thing, but the dealership is telling me that it would cost me anywhere from 3500 to 5000 dollars. so I've been looking into Maaco. Now we all know the base coat package (which I think is about 300$) probably wouldn't be the best idea because it doesn't have a clear coat over it. But sometimes at the dealership I've seen cars that only has a base coat and an expensive wax job that wears off in about 3-6months..and they look gorgeous until that wax wears away. But thats also a manufacturing company that has hitech machinery and macco obviously doesn't have expensive machinery to do your base coat. So im just gonna go out on a limb here an say that macco's 300$ base coat package would not be the best option for your $30,000 car lol so I'm actually looking into the thousand dollar package which is the best Maaco have to offer has to offer. So to make this really long comment. Shorter, I just want to know if anyone has any input on the 700 $ or 999$ packages (which are their 2 best services and they DO botth come with a clear coat. I believe the difference between the 2 is the 700$ lasts for A little over 3+yrs and the 999 lasts for 4+years) so if anybody has had either of these services an can offer advice or even pictures it would be greatly appreciated!!!
