your car does have a rev limiter....so if you go to high, there isnt a whole lot to worry about asl ong as you dont do it all the time....
approximate red lines are:
1st: 20-25mph
2nd: 50mph
3rd: 85mph
4th: 110mph
5th: if the car is a sohc then at about 117mph it will hit the rev limiter.....if the car is a dohc then the rev limiter will get hit at 130mph....

if the car is a sohc, then thats probally your problem......the sohc engine doesnt have much of a top end....especially the tranny....
try taking the car aver 80mph in 4th gear....see how that works for ya

My SOHC's didn't have any trouble getting up to speed.

It is possible that the engine isn't operating at peak performance right now. The milage you indicate means it's time for a new timing belt, water pump and idler pulley. May also want to check your compression, spark plugs, PCV valve and get a new air filter.

maybe not, but my point is that if you end up shifting into 5th gear at like 40mph then it would take for ever to get to 90mph[&:]
the red r/t doesnt have any problem getting to 90mph though, even with the sohc tranny
