this is my first year racing 4cylinders ive always been a v8 kinda guy ...so when i started making my car i thought about punching out the cat and shortin up the pipe for more flow...like you would for a v8...i was told that a 4 clyinder needs back pressure to run right and punching out the cat kills the power..any truth to this...
from what i heard you don't lose power right off but down the road you could have problems with performance. but this is just what i heard don't know if its true or not.
Neons do need some backpressure, not as much as Honda's but as long as you have a muffler even a high flow you should have enuf backpressure. However you can run straight pipe and have no side affects other then being deaf an hour later.
ok
just make some twists and turs, staright back is gonna rob u for back pressure
eliminating the cat is fine
get 4-2-1 headers and go piping all back but dont make it straight throw some curves to give it pressure. itll sound mean and work fine.
i wanna bring the pipe out right behind the drivers door.the pipe would look like a backwards L...do you think this would make enof back pressure or should a run a cat.. its a racecar i dont care how loud it is im lookin for performance.
then if ur looking for performance dont cut it at the door, let it run 4.2.1 headers and go no cat just standrd neon piping, like u hollowed out the cat
because of the afco springs the car sits alot lower than a stock neon ....i figured that the less pipe i have under the car the less hance there is that it will get ripped off ...if i run the L with a cat is that enof back pressure
