You could also consider swapping in a 2.4L from a stratus though if you had the sohc neon it'll require some dohc parts.
if you are going to do a 2.4L swap you should go ahead and do the srt 4 swap
Alot less wiring and headaches with just a regular 2.4 swap and can be done in a good night.

Wiring is not that big of deal. All except for three wires the rest are matched by color code.You have to run one wire out to the pcm and that is the bus wire for the instrument cluster and the S.K.I.M.

it seems like almost every post on here ends up turning into an srt4 swap post[&:]

but some people just want a regular old stock motor, nothing big nothing fancy.....yet everyone alwyas seems to suggest the srt4 swap[:'(]

i just want to do the easiest thing if i can find a sohc mtx with low miles and not have to change anything that is what i want to do because i dont have anything else to drive so i want to do the quickest thing

Engine swap is not that bad unless you are doing the srt 4 swap and that just takes a little more time and thinking. ButI would try to stay as close to the same year as I could. As far as the pcm it depends on what cange overs you do like xtm to atm or sohc to a dohc.
Well just as I said above and I would try my best to stay with the same year if at all possible. Because the connectors change shapes every other years or so.
