ok so wheres a good place to look for a used motor? theres a lot of sohc and dohc talk to here. they both last about the same right? im 19 but ill drive this thing like im 80 it has too many miles on the parts to be hard on. it is kinda fun to drive though.

my first car was an 03 neon. fully loaded but an auto. it wasnt nearly as fun as this thing is. money has changed since then. i like this car though. im glad i bought it. im only the second owner. bought it off a 47 year old lady. its ridiculous how good of shape this thing is in.
Miles don't mean ****, its how it was kept up. My Mom n Dads van with a 318 has 330,000 miles on it and its one of the most dependable vehiclesI've ever driven and it stillhas *****. I got my Neon running and in excelent shapefor $150 from a girl who didn't know the tranny line was cracked, 10 minutes and $2 later I got it running.

Don't start thinking the engine is bad just because it has high mileage, besides if you blow it at over 200,000 miles you should feel happy, most engines don't make it that far. You can find engines cheap its not the end of the world if you blow it up.

318's are awsome motors anyways....my father-in-laws93 dakota has 450,000 miles on it....original motor, rear end, and the tranny finally went out about 3 weeks ago...
neon motors just dont last that long, but if properly maintained can usually hit about 250,000 miles....the the wifes grandmothers 97 neon had 300,000before itfinally died
