Default 4.3 to 2.0

my blazer had a cracked frame and 210,000 miles. so i sold it. today i bought a 1999 2 door dohc mtx neon. ok so i read enoughon this forum to know to say mtx. lol. i got it for dirt cheap with 207,000. so let me ask you this - did i just buy a time bomb? the exterior was in great shape and my budget was limited. i have about $1500 to put into this thing. i know it needs a cv joint. should i just get a different car or can i do enough to get another 50,000 miles out of this thing?

my Neon lasted till 247k and it was still going strong. but i just wanted a younger Neon to mod. depending on how it was driven and treated before it should last.

If you got 1500 to spend, just grab another engine and tranny and swap em in.. somethign with fewer miles ;-)

i second that also. you can pick up a used motor and tranny for cheap and still have money left over to spend. and im tryin to sell my 2000 2 door 2 wheel drive blazer with a 4.3 vortec 5 spd asap because i found either a 2002 camaro ss 6spd for 16k or a 95' supra turbo for 21k... and i really really wanna buy one of them

ok so wheres a good place to look for a used motor? theres a lot of sohc and dohc talk to here. they both last about the same right? im 19 but ill drive this thing like im 80 it has too many miles on the parts to be hard on. it is kinda fun to drive though.

my first car was an 03 neon. fully loaded but an auto. it wasnt nearly as fun as this thing is. money has changed since then. i like this car though. im glad i bought it. im only the second owner. bought it off a 47 year old lady. its ridiculous how good of shape this thing is in.
