Default 98 Neon 2.0L Thermostat

Are these hard to put on? My daughter called, and said the heat indicator is red lining, but the water fill is full, and the oil level is good. Oddly she gets no heat in the cabin, I suspected thermostat, she bought one and now I have to meet her.. is it hard to put in... and/or does this point to her water pump?

i would say to thange the thermostat before you jump into the water pump....

the thermostat is very easy to replace.....all you need is a 10mm socket and an extension....
find the radiator cap.....the cap is on a plastic housing.....there are 2 bolts that hold the housing to the head.....remove the bolts and the thermostat is right there

Like he said, it's an easy 5 minute job. Remember to get a new seal, FelproPN 35588. If the thermostat is stuck open (no heat) it should be running cooler than normal. Radiator could be bad also.

Thanks for info. Replaced with seal leaked, tried again, leaked.. finally went back to Shucks, bought another gasket, the right one, they sold my daugter some cheesy black univeral seal, not the actual Chrysler 2.oL thermostat gasket which is white, not black, twice as thick.

Also was told do NOT use gasket sealant with this gasket. Designed to work alone.

It worked!
