my friend has a 97 neon DOHC engine...and it was sputtering and backfiring really bad and then it was overheating....so we changed the thermostat and plugs and everything seemed ok....now the car has NO spark at all! he had the distributor checked and it said it was within range....12.5 or something volts or up to 13.....still no spark...what is causing this he really needs his car to get to and from work.....

any help would be appreciated.........i have an obd-II scan tool and i will list any codes when we scan it in a little bit....

Any luck with the scan?

Could be camshaft or crabkshaft position sensor.
