Default Time for a new clutch question....

Heres the deal....
my block is a 96 sohc
my transmission is a 95

in 95 they only used the non-modular clutch
in 96 they used both modular and modular

Does the clutch deal go with the block or the transmission???
basicly what im asking is sincemy transmissiona 95 am i stuck with the expensive non-modular clutch or since my block is a 96 do i have a 5050 shot at maybeneeding the modularclutch???

it all depends....
there is an easy way to check though...
remove the inspection plate on the bottom of the tranny....put a breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt and turn it so that you can look around the outter edge of the clutch.....if you can see the bolts that hold the clutch together or if there are just pins

i have a 97 neon and i put the non-modular in. the overall price turned out to be less for me and i can upgrade to a more agressive clutch easilly just by sending it in to friction supply. so the answere is... whatever works 4 u! they both work. if the engine has a flex plate that the modular connects to, then go for the modular, or go standard just by removing the flex plate and bolting on a standard flywheel, clutch and pressure plate.

So your telling me that it really dont matter what clutch i install as long as i have all the parts... The trasmission dont care??? Theres no fitment issues??? As long as i have the clutch plate Flex plate flywheel and throwout bearing all will be good. This is good news...

basically yes.....it doesnt matter to the motor or tranny, the flywheel is where the big difference is

what exactly do you mean by the flywheel is the biggest difference...or are you just refering how the flywheel is not attactched to the non-modular and the modular is attactched???

the flywheel bolts to the crank on either clutch....but is set up differently for the modular and non-modular clutches

the difference is that the modular has all the pieces riveted together and you cannot separate them.....the non-modular have the flex plate, clutch disc, and pressure plate all bolted together and each piece can be accessed individually....but

actually the modular clutch pack bolts to a flex-plate, which bolts to the crank. the standard style clutch has a flywheel that bolts to the crank, the pressure plate bolts to the flywheel and the clutch gets sandwiched in-between.

So does this clutch have everything that i need???
Wouldent need to get anyother parts or reuse anything thats on my car now. just rip out old clutch and all associated parts and install everything that comes with this one and it would work.
