Default Ignition Key switch problem!

Dating back toabout ayear ago,I've had this problem with my key not wanting to turnin the ignition, it gets stuck in the off position and locks the steering wheel and I can't turn the key to unlock the wheel and turn the car on. I think the pins in the lock are stuck from either cold or old grease or whatever may be up there and I'm sick of not just me but anyone who drives my car locking the wheel on me and this damn ignition not wanting to unlock after they turn it off. My keys are fine and not worn and also work perfect in the doorits just the key switchlock is being a bitch on the ignition.

I'm wondering if I can still use the key switch but disable its locking ability somehow. That would be great so it looks normal and works normal with the exception of locking. thanks.

the steering hweel doesnt lock on my red r/t or my 1st blue one....the lock must have broken...
in order to get rid of the lock you will have to take apart the steering column..im not exactly sure where it is, but its in there sumwhere..

here is a stupid question for ya...when you turn off the car, do you turn the wheel???
have you tried to turn the steering wheel to the left or right while turning the key????

Yeah I've tried turning the wheel both ways while trying to turn the key and it didn't appear to help. It seems totally random, just when you think you've got a system worked out it becomes harder then. I think the pins are either worn or very sticky which is why it probably doesn't read the key properly when its inserted. I'd like to keep the key switch in for looks and function but I could care less if it ever locks again thats not important to me.

Try to squirt very little WD-40 in the switch but do not flood it. Just a couple of quick shots and see if that helps. It did mine and i had the same problem before I did my swap
