Clutch brake in???
Ok my clutch is on its way to my house. ended up getting the same clutch as spud the f1 racing clutch, modular.... now it says that you have to have a 500 mile brake in period.... Seeing that this will be my first new clutch... how do you brake a clutch in???? I noticed my buddy with a svt focus just driving really really slow off the line when he got his new clutch... is this what i have to do??? might as well put a student driver sticker on my car. lol
ok thanks das....
So I got my clutch today....
at the bottom of the pieace of paper that came with it it says
12) Road test vehicle and never abuse a newly fitted clutch. Allow 750 mile brake in and always adjust free travel on your new clutch at 750miles and 1500 miles. There after, adjust at every 10000 miles.
What does it mean by adjusting the free travel on your new clutch

i beat the hell out of my clutch when i 1st installed it.....within the 1st 1500 miles i went through 2 sets of tires.....but most of that is because at the same time of changing the clutch, i also installed the turbo
so... ok another thought... It's snowing and theres about 3 inches of ice...yes ice...not snow...we got like 14 inches of that ****. but 3 inches of ice.... Should I hold off doing my clutch till the ice melts and my car will acually be able to get traction??? I just dont want to get on a patch of ice and both tires start to spin over spin the new clutch and boom.
ur clutch should be fine on the ice. really should not be a problem. the reason they want you to play nice when u first get the clutch is so it has time to form itself to mate with the pressure plate and flywheel. also clutches need to go through a few gentle heat cycles befor there really ready to be beat on. plus keep in mind that the manufacturer want you to get past the warranty and return period befor u start beating on it, so they dont have to fix ur mistakes
