I need some advice

Default I need some advice

[:-] Hello, im kinf of new here and i tiguth i could get some help.

I have a 98 plymouth neon and the engine light is on. I got the P1390 code wich is the timing belt. The thing is that i dont feel anything while driving the car, what am i supposed to feel with that particular failure?

P1390 means that the timing belt skipped a tooth. How long has it been since the timing belt was changed?

I dont know just bought it from an auction, but i just bought the timing belt, spent a good 40 dlls[&:].
But the thing is i dont feel anything wrong while driving, isnt the car supposed to loose power or something if the timing is off?

Could be a sensor that misread something. Reset the PCM and see if it comes back.

you mean like, dissconect the battery for like a minute and then plug it back? i did that and the check engine light went of for about 5 minutes and then it turned on again. Little ****er light!!! [:@]
I cant even think of doing the smogg test with that light on right?

No you cant, well in most parts anyhow they will see the light and autmaticly flunk ya...Try pulling the fuse up in the engine bay then disconnect the battery then put the fuse back in and then the battery.... leave the batter dissconnected for like an hour or two just to make sure...

ohhh ecxelenttttt, i replaced the timing belt and the check engine light dissapeared, turns out that the belt has hitting the protective case nad the rubber that came outgot stuck on the belt and made it jump a thoot.

Thanks for your help guys

By the way ive been hearing that the head gasket is a common problem. So, how do i know if there is an internal leakeage or anything wrong?

number of symptoms, coolant in oil, oil in coolant, white smoke, are the most obvious lack of power, losing coolant with no signs of leaking
