aem intake
If it is a short pipe, it puts in behind the engine over the exhuast manifold= HAI. If it bends and drops it down to the lower part of the the engine compartment or into the fender well+ True CAI. You don't really want a HAI it is kink of pointless IMO.
My friend had one that went over the exhaust manifold. He went to fast into a puddle of water and his intake drank some water. Needless to say, it started smoking and ceased becase of waterlock. Well the good part is that he got to rebuild it.
I also have a 98 SOHC. I have the iceman, I think it is a good intake, I have heard nothing but good about it. In order to suck water into the motor, you would have to submerge the intake, whick is pretty hard to do. I have never had a problem and have went though some thngs that I was worried about, but never had a problem.
So you two with the iceman, did it just raise the battery and put it below there? I have a 97 sohc, automatic and im just making sure that it will work for me before i purchase it in a day or two.

I believe for the auto you have to relocate the battery to the trunk. I think the ATX is bigger and the intake won't fit between the batery and the trans, I have a MTX and it just fits with the relocated battey box under the hood.
