Default metal tank to plastic tank a few questions..

ok,,i have a 96 neon with a metal tank and im putting a plastic tank from a 97 on so my question is what do i need to change besides the tank and pump? do i need the straps from the plastic tank or the metal tank straps work fine and my other question seeing is how the pump on plastic tank dont have the fuel filter lines do i eliminate the fuel filter?,,Thanks

you do need the plastic tank straps and you will need to buy a inline fuel filter and slice it into the fuel line to the fuel rail...

and to jr.mechanicno no i never figured out the problem so i just parted it out,,
i picked up a 96 mtx SOHC coupe really cheap so im happy,,and glad that i dont have anymore atx neon

yes...you need the plastic straps, plastic tank fuel pump, and you could eliminate the filter.....
the plastic tanks fuel pump has its own filter on it.....the metal tank needed an additional filter because it would pick up alot of metal flakes....(thats why they dont use the metal tanks anymore)

Great thanks spudsterier,,and do you know if the straps from the metal tank can be fixed to fit because i have 3 set's of them,,ide hate to go buy another set...lol Thanks again
and to jr.mechanic,,im sorry,lol i got tired of fooling around with that car so scrapping it was the only optionfor me,,

i think the plastic tank is larger then the metal one so im not sure if you will be able to get the straps to work or not
