does anybody have any advise for me because im about to begin work on pulling my engine and i have never done this before.

 

go to your local firedepartment and ask to borrow the jaws of life

advise:
if you have never done it before, take pictures before you start....then you can always look back during installation if you need to...

take everything apart piece by piece.....remove the intake manifold, power steering pump, throttle body, and everything else...then you can see how it all goes together and how everything is on there...

TAKE YOUR TIME...dont rush and dont just start ripping everything off....

keep it organized...

if you have never done it before, then i reccomend removing the radiator as well...just incase...

its pretty simple...just like i big puzzle...i can usually have an old motor out, new one in, and the car on the road within about 6 hours...

 

well spud here is a question, after everything that has been going wrong with my car i am 90% sure i warped the head of my motor wat is easier switching heads or just replacing the entire motor?

 

For spud, most likely replacing the motor. For us normal people, it is much easier to put a new head on there.

 

well after only like 2 hrs of working on the engine i got the valve cover, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, a/c, power streering and half of the timing belt off so i think im doing pretty good

 

Did you you just un bolt the manifolds or completely remove them? It is a little late now but it is easiest just to leave the manifolds in the car.

 

Procedure for pulling the Neon motor
Drain trans
Pull halfshafts
Pull battery and tray (don't forget to disconnect battery temp sensor from tray)
Drain and pull radiator with hoses and fan attached
Remove airbox, bracket, and tube to throttle body
Unbolt catalyst from exhaust manifold
Remove coolant overflow bottle
Disconnect rear O2 sensor near alternator shield
Unbolt ground strap from valve cover
Unbolt power steering reservoir from head (do not undo power steering lines)
Unbolt power steering pump from bracket and lay it back behind the RF strut tower (do not undo power steering lines)
Disconnect back up light on trans and ground strap
Separate harness at 60 way connector (unbolt bracket too)
Disconnect battery cable from starter
Unhook clutch cable
Unhook shifter cables from trans and trans bracket (don't loose the clips)
Disconnect heater hoses from lines above trans
Disconnect throttle cable from throttle body and bracket
Unbolt power hop damper at crossmember
Remove front motor mount through bolt
Support right side of motor with a jack
Remove right side mount with purge solenoid
Hook chain at mount through bolt
Let motor down so through bolt is sitting on the rail
Support trans with jack
Remove through bolt at trans mount
Hook chain to one of the trans mount bolts (not through bolt)
Hook chain to engine lift
Remove jack
Rotate engine assembly clockwise so trans mount clears bracket
Have someone hold hood vertical
Pull it out.

 

bold stuff isnt necessary unless you wanna pull the motor and trans as 1 unit....it is actually a lot less work to remove just the motor...

if a bunch of stuff has been going wrong with the motor then it would be more bennificial just to completely swap the motors.....and if your gonna do a straight swap then you dont need to mess with any of the timing stuff....
for me, its easier to just swap the whole motor then just the head...that way you dont have to mess with the timing and its only 3 additional bolts

 

that makes sence but i am working i ngrass and dirt, and i dont have an engine jack and even if i did then my jack would sink in the dirt so i just opted to remove the head for now

 

i completely understand....
