yup I'm sure MTX DOHC revlimiter is either 7200 0r 7250(not sure). All gen1 ATX cars used the SOHC 6250 limiter. Which by the way is 200rpm below the DOHC hp peak(6450).

Wow...I was unaware that the rev limiter was that high. Sure about it being that high? I can believe the part about it making peak power at 6450rpm though. I'd say mine peaks at around 6300rpm...thats about when I feel the power fall.

I think your a still a little off on your numbers, I have a 1st gen sohc and my rev limiter is at 6500, give or take 50 or so.

ok, ok here goes. First off I'm wrong about the speed I ran her into the limiter today just for you guys! The speed is a lower than I thought. Didn't see exactly but somewhere just below 60. I don't know why I thought otherwise but I figured I'd level with you all. As for the rev limiter I can say that the last numbers I posted (3750 and 7250) were taken directly from the tech section at neons.org. As for the 7250 - Yes I am SURE as I ran into it earlier today. As for the SOHC I can't say for sure because I don't currently have access to one to check it out. I think I said 3450 before because I've read that somewhere but neons.org says 3750. Anyone care to test thiers out for us?

well I don't know if this applies to me since I have a first gen manual SOHC but mine will tach up to at least 7K. I let my friends mom drive and she was a little rusty and a little over excited about having some real power. Scared the crap out of me since I just finished the swap.

It should apply to your car but apparently for some reason it doesn't. No Sohc should turn 7+ without a PCM swap. UNLESS your car is an ACR which I hope you would have told us. I THINK I read somewhere that the speed and rev limiters were adjusted on ACRs.

3750 is a little low for a rev limiter, I think you meant 6750?

well now I'm officially dumb! yeah I meant 6 not 3. Sorry I was in a hurry to take the car for a spin. Just got my license back at midnight. Got an half hour drive in before the freezing rain started but that's probably it for the car till spring.

I did that in my '99 R/T once, but it had a slightly higher rev limiter due to the Mopar Performance PCM that was in it. The 1st gen ACR Neons were factory stock race cars and had virtually no options at all, no radio, no A/C, nothing was power not even the steering in some cases. They were a stripped down Neon with Koni adjustable struts and stiffer springs. The Neon R/T's are basically Neon ACR's with all the normal options available except they didn't have the Koni adjustable struts, but they did have the same engines, transmissions, stiff springs and light weight wheels. If you wanted you could get an R/T that was just as fast as an ACR, mine was because the only options it had that the ACR's didn't was A/C and a stereo, everything else was powerless (no power windows, power mirrors, power door locks, sunroof, etc.). I may have an SRT-4 right now and love it beyond description, but I do still miss my R/T, it was a fun ride that was quick and handled like it was on rails and stuck like glue without even hearing anything from the tires when pushed hard. The transmission I believe should bolt right up and the ACR and R/T have a closer ratio gearing for quicker acceleration.
